  • Stocks slide over 1% on virus uptick, reopening stocks fall

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite dropped over 1% each in morning trading as COVID-19 infections rise across the globe. Oil also tumbled, falling to the $69 per barrel level, making energy stocks the weakest group in the S&P. Elsewhere, investors bought into more defensive names including Procter & Gamble and Walmart with both inching higher.
