• Biden approves Louisiana disaster declaration

  President Biden late Sunday declared that a major disaster has occurred in Louisiana due to Hurricane Ida, which makes federal funding available to those impacted in several parishes in the state. The hurricane was downgraded to a Category 2 storm. A catastrophic storm surge and flash flooding continue in portions of the southeastern region of the state.
