  U.S. stocks slipped from record highs as investors digested a fresh round of earnings from Walmart and Home Depot both of which showed a slowdown in sales. Shares of the home-retailer tumbled over 4%. Also on tap, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will deliver remarks at 1:30 pm ET.
