Tropical Storm Henri made landfall along the coast of Rhode Island near Westerly midday Sunday as the slow-moving storm continues to drench the Northeast with heavy rain that could cause significant flooding.

Henri, which weakened from a Category 1 hurricane on Sunday morning, had sustained winds of 60 mph at landfall, the National Hurricane Center said.

The storm is expected to weaken and slow down as it moves further inland, but tropical storm-force winds will continue to cause power outages through much of southern New England on Sunday.
