• Stocks end mixed, oil falls to $68 per barrel

  U.S. stocks ended the session mixed with the Nasdaq Composite finishing modestly higher, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 fell. Investors tuned into rising headwinds for the economy including slowing job growth and rising COVID-19 cases. Shares of General Motors dropped over 8% in one of the worst sessions for the automaker in over a year as concerns over the chip shortage mount. In commodities, oil tumbled to the $68 per barrel level.
