• Dow jumps 400 points as debt ceiling deal nears

  U.S. stocks jumped over 1% in early trading on optimism a deal will be reached on the debt ceiling and as weekly jobless claims fell for the first time in a month. In stocks, Tesla moved higher ahead of its annual shareholder meeting and Costco jumped after September sales rose 16%.
