• Dow snags 483 point gain, Nasdaq ends 5-day losing streak

  Investors enjoyed a broad and choppy rally on the first trading day of October with all three of the major U.S. stock averages locking in gains. 10 of 11 S&P sectors rose led by a 3.3% jump in energy stocks as oil neared $76 per barrel level. Still, for the week the S&P and Nasdaq fell over 2%, while the Dow dipped over 1%.
