  • Stocks slide ahead of earnings season start

    U.S. stocks finished the session lower in what was a choppy session ahead of bank earnings which kickoff Wednesday along with a fresh inflation report. Within the S&P 500, consumer discretionary stocks notched gains, helped by MGM Resorts which rose 9.6% after an upgrade from Credit Suisse. In tech, Micron shares fell to a 10.5 month low on concerns of a prolonged chip shortage. Elsewhere, oil closed up 0.15% to $80.64 per barrel.
