The accused perpetrator of the attack, Darrell Brooks, 39, appeared in court on Tuesday as he was formally charged with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide, and sobbed as prosecutors recounted what had happened at the parade.

Prosecutors said they expected to file a sixth homicide charge.
