• Stocks gain even as inflation surges, Oracle soars

  Investors snapped up stocks in early trading Friday even as inflation rose at the fastest pace since 1982. Material and technology shares paced broad gains for the S&P rising over 1% each, with all 11 of the major sectors posting gains. In commodities, oil hovered at the $71 per barrel level.
