• Stocks notch 3rd day of gains, Apple hits record

  The S&P 500 notched the third straight day of gains led by healthcare and technology names including Apple which closed at a fresh record high. Investors took a report on the growing number of job openings in stride as they rose to 11.03 million, climbing back to July's record of 11.1 million.
