The prospects for dozens of migrants lost in the Florida Straits are looking increasingly grim after their boat capsized over the weekend.

The search operation began at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday when a commercial mariner reported seeing a 25-foot boat capsized about 40 miles east of Fort Pierce, Fla. A single survivor was rescued, and 38 others are still unaccounted for.
