• Dow curbs 800+ point loss as stocks close off session lows

  It was another volatile day on Wall Street with stocks closing lower across the board but off the worst levels of the session. Financial and energy stocks drove the recovery as oil moved to the $85 per barrel level. The VIX Index, the so-called fear gauge, rose for a 7th straight session.
