• Stocks drop in choppy session, Nasdaq falls 1.4%

  U.S. stocks gave up gains to close lower in another session plagued by choppiness. The Nasdaq Composite slumped over 1%, partly due to weakness in semiconductors as Intel fell 7%. Energy stocks bucked the downtrend as oil intra-day hit $88 per barrel before pulling back.
