• Stocks tank in whipsaw session, Dow off 314 points

  U.S. stocks got hit with more volatility before closing at the lows of the session giving up big intraday gains as consumer discretionary and material names paced the declines. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite reversed fell 1.3% moving deeper into correction territory. Chip stocks Micron and Nvidia among the weakest performers. In commodities, oil closed fractionally lower at $86.90 per barrel.
