• Stocks rise for a fourth day, Google surges 7%

  All three of the major U.S. averages rose for the fourth straight session helped by better-than-expected earnings. Google jumped after announcing a 20-for-1 stock split, while Salesforce and United Health were top Dow performers. In commodities, oil briefly hit $89 before settling at $88.26 per barrel.
