New Hampshire Country Club Shooting Leaves One Dead, Sparks Statewide Investigation

A tragic shooting at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, has left one man dead and two others wounded, prompting a statewide investigation and renewed concerns about public safety in traditionally quiet communities. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 20, 2025, during a wedding reception, turning a celebration into chaos.

According to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the suspect—identified as Hunter Nadeau, 23, of Nashua—entered the country club during a wedding event and opened fire in the restaurant area. The victim, Robert Steven DeCesare, 59, was dining with his family when he was fatally shot. Two others—a club employee and a guest—were also shot and hospitalized.

Witnesses described a scene of panic and confusion. Some reported hearing Nadeau shout phrases like “Free Palestine” and “The children are safe,” though authorities later clarified that these statements appeared to be intended to create chaos rather than reflect a hate-based motive.

Nadeau, a former employee of the country club, was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood shortly after the shooting. He has been charged with second-degree murder, and additional charges are expected for the other victims. Authorities initially suspected multiple shooters but later confirmed Nadeau acted alone.

Law enforcement officials, including Attorney General John Formella, stated that the motive remains unclear. Investigators believe Nadeau’s actions were intended to cause disruption rather than target specific individuals. There is no known connection between Nadeau and DeCesare.

Several patrons at the restaurant attempted to subdue the shooter, including one individual who struck Nadeau with a chair. These actions likely prevented further casualties. “He probably saved a bunch of lives,” said wedding DJ Michael Homewood, who witnessed the intervention.

Local officials, including Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess and Governor Kelly Ayotte, praised the bravery of those involved and pledged full support for the victims and their families.

Robert DeCesare is being remembered as a devoted father and husband. His widow, Charlene DeCesare, described him as a hero who shielded his family during the attack. “Our lives are forever changed,” she said. DeCesare’s daughter is scheduled to be married in six weeks.

The New Hampshire shooting at Sky Meadow Country Club has shaken a peaceful community and raised urgent questions about security at public venues. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on supporting the victims, understanding the motive, and preventing future tragedies.
