A gunman opened fire in a Tennessee grocery store, killing one and injuring at least 12 before he shot and killed himself, the authorities said.

The authorities said the shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. inside a Kroger grocery store in Collierville, Tenn., about 30 miles east of Memphis.

The Collierville police chief said the injuries to the victims were "very serious."
