Members of Mike Pence's security feared for their lives and called their families to say goodbye during the riot, a White House official said at the Jan. 6 hearing.

Testifying anonymously, the White House official said that members of the vice president's security detail were "screaming" as they tried to get him out of the Capitol safely. "On the ground, Mr. Pence's detail thought that this was about to get very ugly," the witness said.
